[SOLVED] Installing driver for LAN Adapter on ASRock Z370 Killer

Hullo everybody,

I bought a brand new mainboard together with a new CPU, ... Subsequently building everything up, I installed windows 10 and wanted then to install all the required drivers. For that I used the given driver CD of the mainboard.

All the drivers were installed successfully, only the LAN commuter did not work. I get the error "Cannot install drivers. No Intel(R) Adapters are nowadays in this computer".

Considering this didn't work I downloaded the driver from intel.com (on another PC and moved it to the new PC). This showed upwardly the exact aforementioned error bulletin.

ASRock offers an "Internet Flash" in the UEFI to update their UEFI via internet. I tried to do this, this was successful. I disconnected the LAN cable and ran the "Internet Flash" again. This and then threw an error. This makes me remember that the connection is working in UEFI so I think there is no hardware defect.

I read something about the LAN connectedness being disabled in the UEFI. I travelled through "avant-garde screen" to "Chipset configuration" in UEFI. There is the choice "Onboard LAN" but it was enabled already.

After googling around for hours I tried to install the commuter via the Device Manager. I found an unknown device which is (I call back) the LAN Adapter. When I install the intel driver via the .exe I can expect in the Device Manager at the same time. The unknown device disappears and a "Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (ii) l219-5" appears. I fabricated a screenshot of the hardware id of the ethernet connection. They are the same equally the ones of the unknown device. So I remember they are equal.

In the Device Director I tried to utilise the list that Windows displays. This shows upward the right driver (I219-V) but the installation runs in a timeout. I tried to let windows search the driver later putting the intel drivers in a new directory. I told windows to search in this directory simply. Nothing of this worked.

Then I read near using the .inf directly. Just there are hundreds of .infs in the driver directory form Intel and I did not know (and could not notice out) which i to utilise. So I stopped in that location.

The final thing I could imagine was to download and install "easydriver" which is a software which downloads drivers for you lot. I don't similar those things but I couldn't think of whatever other mode. This failed as well. It just downloaded the Intel driver.

And so to sum upwardly what I did so far:

  • Install driver via ASRock Mainboard CD: Did non work.
  • Download lastest commuter from Intel and install it: Did non work.
  • Test the cyberspace connexion in UEFI: Worked.
  • Enable Onboard LAN in UEFI: Was enabled already.
  • Install driver via the Device Manager by
    • using the selection list (selected I219-5): Did non work.
    • using "search on Reckoner": Did not work.
    • using "select file" and trying all the .infs: Did not work.
  • Using easydrive plan: Did non work.
Now what can I practise? How do I fix the LAN adapter not working?

Kind regards and give thanks you for your help

PS: I'g not really familar with doing basic things like this. This is only my third setup I built in my life. Never before there went annihilation wrong so I'm really non into all those UEFI things.

Ok, I solved information technology. For everyone else:
  1. Ready driver (no matter if the ASRock i or the Intel one), if it is an .exe or a .zip file for both decompress the file eastward.g. with 7Zip. You lot need the plain directories.
  2. Open up Device Manager
  3. Look for the "unknown device", "unknown Ethernet Connexion" or something equivalent
  4. Right click the device and select "Update driver software..."
  5. At present select "Browse my reckoner for driver software".
  6. Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my estimator"
  7. Now use "Have deejay" and go to the directory with the specific .inf. If you take the I219-Five like me it is path/to/the/commuter/PRO1000/Winx64/NDIS62 . For other Internet Connections just endeavor out everything. Windows will load the whole directory of the .inf file so there are non that much possibilities. Make sure the "Bear witness uniform hardware"-Checkbox is not checked !
  8. Equally said before, the "Evidence uniform hardware"-checkbox must non be selected! This was my fault!
  9. Now search for the correct driver. In my case Windows showed (and tried to install) the driver called "Intel(R) Ethernet Connexion (two) I219-Five". This is wrong ! At that place also is a driver chosen "Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I219-V" without the (2). This one will work. Simply it will not prove upwards when the "Show uniform hardware" checkbox is checked.
So, to summarize: Exercise not use the Intel(R) Ethernet Connexion (2) ... Uncheck the "Evidence uniform hardware"-checkbox, in that location volition be the same Ethernet Connectedness without the two.

I promise this volition aid other people. For me this took now more than than two days to notice out.

Yeah, I think and so. I downloaded the driver from the ASRock too, before tyring the Intel site. I forgot to mention this. I likewise have the v23.2.0 on my other (new, non working) computer. I am retrying it there at the moment. I also downloaded the driver again from the link yous posted. I volition endeavor this download likewise. Merely I'm very certain that information technology will not hel. Still thanks very much for helping.

Ok, I downloaded your version and tried to install it. Also didn't piece of work. Neither the included Autorun.exe nor by installing information technology vai the Device Manager. The first way gives the already mentioned error message, 2nd one runs into timeout.

Very strange that is the official and latest LAN Commuter.
Yes. I am currently trying older versions of the driver. All of them without success. Any other ideas? Did I miss something in the UEFI settings?

Ok, I solved it. For anybody else:
  1. Prepare commuter (no affair if the ASRock one or the Intel ane), if it is an .exe or a .zip file for both decompress the file e.grand. with 7Zip. Y'all need the plain directories.
  2. Open Device Manager
  3. Look for the "unknown device", "unknown Ethernet Connection" or something equivalent
  4. Right click the device and select "Update driver software..."
  5. Now select "Browse my estimator for commuter software".
  6. Select "Permit me choice from a list of device drivers on my computer"
  7. Now utilise "Take disk" and become to the directory with the specific .inf. If y'all have the I219-V similar me it is path/to/the/driver/PRO1000/Winx64/NDIS62 . For other Net Connections simply try out everything. Windows will load the whole directory of the .inf file so there are not that much possibilities. Brand sure the "Show uniform hardware"-Checkbox is non checked !
  8. As said before, the "Show compatible hardware"-checkbox must not be selected! This was my fault!
  9. Now search for the correct driver. In my instance Windows showed (and tried to install) the driver called "Intel(R) Ethernet Connexion (2) I219-5". This is wrong ! There also is a commuter chosen "Intel(R) Ethernet Connectedness I219-V" without the (two). This one will work. But information technology volition not bear witness up when the "Show compatible hardware" checkbox is checked.
So, to summarize: Exercise not use the Intel(R) Ethernet Connexion (2) ... Uncheck the "Bear witness compatible hardware"-checkbox, at that place volition exist the same Ethernet Connexion without the two.

I hope this will help other people. For me this took now more than two days to find out.
